Bohemian Like You. Wahha Woo!

I love spring.  Even though I'm frustrated with the color palate set for this season, I still love how everything is starting to brighten back up.  The sun is shinning most days and I don't need my coat by lunch time.  It's awesome.  I made my first Frosty Oasis ice cream run yesterday with my sister (for all intents and purposes) Lo.  It was fantastic.  Totally not part of my diet, but it just had to be done.  You know when the ice cream shops open, warm weather is here to stay!

I just love this skirt.  It's so comfortable.  I've decided that it definatly makes a better dress than a skirt.  It's got a super tight waist band so it cuts my hips in half when I wear it, and I don't need any help making those look bigger.  I do just fine on my own. :)  But I really wanted to go casual w/ the t-shirt so I just threw it on over top instead.  It works.  But only w/ a belt.  Otherwise it's kind of puffy and give me waaayyy too much padding. hehe.  These are my favorite sandals too.  They are technically a size too big but I just had to have them.  I love the gladiator sandal.  My mom used to have a pair from like the late 70's and I would wear them all the time til they eventually fell apart.  These are the closest I've found since.

I didn't take any photos today because I was kind of a shit show all day.  My great aunt passed away this morning.  It is a blessing but that doesn't really make it any easier.  She was kind of like another grandmother to me.  I used to play dress up in her closet when I was little.  We would play cards like it was our job!  Everything from Uno to Skip Bo to Phase 10 and Old Maid. :)  I will miss her a lot.  I'm glad she's in a better place. <3

Hope everyone has a fantastic evening!

Spring Wish List!

I've decided I'm not a huge fan of most of the spring fashion this year.  Everything seems to be black, white or tan.  I feel like I'm constantly looking at a 90's Gap commercial.  Don't get me wrong, I like the styles and pairings of certain things, but couldn't we have a little color?  So after sorting through a lot of very drab and somewhat blah clothing, these are what I found.

Forever 21
This store in particular had nothing but black and white.  It was really ridiculous.  I already plan on purchasing the blue vest.  It was the one thing that made me go "OMG!"  I also adore the shoes.  They may be next weeks purchase. :)

Urban Outfitters
This was probably the most disappointing of all.  I love UO and this is all I could find.  4 pieces!  Sad. The cuff bracelet is fantastic though and is on my list to purchase these week once bills are paid.

Ruche

Ruche is fastly becoming my new favorite shop stop.  I loved a million things.  Plus their prices are completely affordable.  Everyone should check it out.  www.shopruche.com

Mod Cloth

had by the best selection for spring in my opinion.  Too bad their prices are bit on the steep side for my budget.  But I still love them.  Their clothes are amazing.  One day soon I will be able to shop there on a semi-regular basis.  Fingers crossed. :)
So this is it.  I'm hoping maybe as we get farther into the season that more color is added.  Below are todays outfits.  I'm wearing shorts for the first time in YEARS.  I had a pair of jeans that ripped and thought to myself, why not?  Who knows it their make it out this summer (I doubt it) but maybe.

I'm also working on a new project.  I've been getting more and more into sewing lately.  I'm trying to expand my talents and knowledge of garment construction.  I've got a million designs swimming around in my head and I want to be able to make them real, but I've got a lot of learning to do.  So my newest project is working with stretchy fabric, ie. jersey knit.  It's an extreme pain working with this material because it's super touchy.  I've started, stopped and took the stitches out several times now.  But I'm going to finish it and someday it will hopefully look like this...

Bodies of Art!

Here are some more photo's from the KCAD Fashion Show.  All photo's are care of Andrea of Blond Bedhead .  I just have to say, this was an awesome group of ladies and I had a great time.  Everyone should check out their blogs and chictopia sites! go Go GO!

And of course the lovely ladies that joined!

Andrea of Blond Bedhead  & Tieka of  Selective Potential

I'm working on a spring wish list right now.  Online shopping has become my new favorite past time.  My husband isn't exactly a fan, but he'll get over it.  I'm happy when I show and get new awesome things, and he likes when I'm happy so.  Everyone's happy.  I've been saving my favorites and putting together a list of all my must have's for the new season.  I was talking with a friend the other night about the spring trends this year, and that we honestly weren't really fans.  So I've been searching for some of my own instead.  There's good stuff but it's just got to be put together right.  I'm on the hunt!  I'll be posting it later tonight, or tomorrow, depending on how long I decide to window shop, internet style. :)

What a Great Weekend!

I had a really great weekend!  Friday I was invited by my good friend Tieka of Selective Potential to the Kendall College of Art and Design's "Bodies of Art" Fashion show in Grand Rapids.  It was lots of fun w/ lots of cute girlies.  The show wasn't exactly what I was hoping for, but there were a few good pieces that really impressed me.  I totally forgot that I had brought my camera with me so I didn't take any photos. :(  But you can just take my word for it.  After the show, a few of us decided that since we were already out we would grab a drink at The Bob.  We had so much fun munching down good food, sipping on super girly drinks and listening to some awesome jam/jazz music.  It was so nice to have a girls night out on the town.  There was lots of talk of having it happen again soon, so hopefully there is some follow through!

I wore this outfit to the show.  It probably more summer than spring, but I didn't care.  My mom actually got me this dress for x-mas and I was a bit on the fence about it at first.  But once I put it on, I love it.  It's fitted but not so fitted that I felt uncomfortable showing off my curves.  And I absolutely LOVE the shade of blue.  It's so vibrant and just screams sunny days and lovely weather.  I'm positive you'll see it again in many of my spring/summer photos!  I will be posting more photo's c/o Andrea of Blonde Bedhead .  She took some awesome outfit shots at this little park across the street from the BrassWorks building, where the show was held.  I'll add those tomorrow, but for now here are my attempts prior to heading out of the house.

I am also in love with these shoes!  I found them at Payless in North Carolina last year and just loved them.  That was way before my purple obsession emerged so I kind of surprised myself by buying them.  But I'm super glad now that I did!

Saturday was a lazy day.  Jake and I layed around, bitched about work and watched movies.  I ran a few errands and ended up picked up The Twilight Saga: New Moon for cheap at Meijers. :)  I know they are cheesy and the books are nothing to shake a stick at, but I just love them.  I of course put it in immediately after getting home and forced Jake to watch it w/ me, including all the special bonus features.  He was super excited. Or not really at all.  Either way, I enjoyed it.

Today we had a triple date with some a couple of his good guy friends.  It was super nice to be handing out with other people in "long term" relationships.  I love all my single friends, but hanging out is a completely different atmosphere when you're a couple with other couples.  We went out to eat at my FAV. restaurant, BD's Mongolian BBQ.  Best. Stir-Fry. Ever.  If you have one near you, you should most definatly check it out like ASAP.  I figured since it was a really laid back place I would dress down from my normal out and about outfits.  Both of the tops are pieces that I received from a girlfriend who recently cleaned out her closet.  One woman's "Goodwill" pile is another ones treasure chest!  I love this shirt on me a lot.  Usually horizontal stripes are not a good choice for women who are more voluptuous, but for some reason every time I looked at myself in the mirror today, I felt like it was actually slimming!  And these jeans are just super comfortable.  They are more wide leg than what I usually wear but they fit so well in the waist and butt that I just can't give them up.
  (Blazer - Charlotte Russe / Knit Top - Unknow / Jeans - DECREE / Shoes - Payless / Necklace & Headband - Target)

I also found the double headband I'm wear above at Target.  It's got cushioned, bendable ends so that they don't bother your head & ears.  I was super pumped!  I love headbands, but they bother my head so bad I always never wear them.  I bought like 5 of them!

I hope everyone had as awesome of a weekend as I did!

I'm Kaleigh. I'm 23 years old, living in my small hometown in West Michigan. I'm newly married to the coolest kid in the world. I wanna hit him in the head with a frying pan most of the time, but it's with love that I say that. I love fashion and food. Is that weird? O well. :)
